In XML for Beginners, students learn to design and construct XML documents, create, define and properly nest XML elements or tags, work with RGB hexadeicmal color codes, distinguish data from metadata, and explore the use of character data blocks. They use cascading style sheets, HTML data islands and XSL, or eXtensible Stylesheet Language, to display XML documents as web pages. They also make use of XSL to manipulate, filter, sort, test and select XML data. Internet Explorer 6, or a version later than 6, is essential for this course. Students also need access to an IBM compatible computer and Notepad, the text file editor.
"We have successfully used HTML for Beginners and JavaScript for Beginners. They both provide excellent resource material for students and teachers. Our school now wishes to purchase a site licence for XML for Beginners."
